This area of the city is situated to the right of the main entrance to the Preserve, on the shore of Quarantine Bay. A Greek settlement appeared here at the end of the 5th c. BC.
Initially it occupied a relatively small part of the shore which with time was completely built up. The topological
relief of this region necessitated formidable defensive walls behind which stood warehouses, residential and public
